Getting Started with The Speed Trap

Step 1: Align the white center line to the target
Step 2: Make swings with no ball. Learn to miss the Speed Trap and brush the grass.
Using the Speed Trap Base for Chipping and Pitching
Step 1: Place the ball in front of the red line. Hit a standard “chip and run” shot until you are consistently missing the base and hitting the ball then grass.
Step 2: As you improve, move the ball back to the white line.
Using the Speed Trap Base for Full Swing
Step 1: Set a ball in front of the red line. Hit full shots with middle irons. To begin, tee up the ball just above the ground.
Step 2: As you improve, move the ball closer to the white line. The steeper the swing path, the closer the ball gets to the base.
Using the Speed Rods with the Base for Full Swing and short shots
Set 2 rods on the front of the base: If they are too narrow, turn them toward the target or away from the ball until you can safely hit the ball.
Set 2 rods on the back of the base: Start with the rods as wide as possible. Move them slightly together as you improve.
Set 4 rods on the corners of the base: Start with the rods as wide as possible. Move them slightly together as you improve. Begin without a ball, then put it in play
To take away the “over the top” move: Put a rod on the back top corner, and front inside corner.
To prevent coming too much from inside the line: Put a rod on the back bottom corner, and front outside corner.
Understanding Your Shot Shape
Club path and club face are the two key components of the shot-shaping equation. The Speed Trap 2.0 addresses the club path component head on. Once you can swing through the red rods consistently, you've mastered the club path component. Still plagued by slices or hooks? Your focus should then turn to the club face.
The Speed Trap also reveals whether your club face is square at address, targeting one of the most overlooked alignment issues. Discover the eye-opening truths about your swing and make adjustments that will transform your game.
If you struggle with a slice or want to practice hitting a draw, the Speed Trap can help by guiding your swing path. By setting the rods to encourage an in-to-out path, you’re forced to bring the club back and through on an inside path, which is key to hitting a draw or fixing a slice. If your swing veers too far outside or over the top, you’ll hit the rods, providing instant feedback. Over time, this builds muscle memory for the correct swing path, helping you hit the ball straighter or shape shots on command.
I absolutely stripe the ball after a few good swings on this thing. 100% would recommend it to anyone. You will not regret it!
The Speed Trap 2.0 allows you to set up the rods in a configuration that encourages an "in to out" swing path, perfect for creating a controlled draw or eliminating the "over to top" swing that produces a slice.
By guiding your club through the rods without making contact, you’ll master the club path component of shot shaping. If your shots still don't have the desired ball flight, it might be time to adjust your club face. This tool provides instant feedback to refine both path and face, helping you hit longer, straighter, more consistent golf shots.
